Use the HSN/SAC Code Lookup Tool to find out the HSN Codes, SAC Codes, and their GST rates for your goods and services. Search by product name or HSN code / SAC code.
The HSN code is an abbreviation for “harmonized system of nomenclature”. This system was introduced to systematically classify products around the world. The HSN code is a 6-digit integrated code that classifies more than 5000 products and is accepted worldwide. Developed by the World Customs Organization (WCO) and implemented in 1988.
How does HSN code work?
There are approximately 5,000 product groups, each identified by a 6-digit code and arranged in legal and logical structures. Supported by well-defined rules to achieve uniform classification. The main purpose of HSN is to classify products around the world in a systematic and logical way. This will unify the classification of commodities and promote international trade.
WORLD CUSTOMS ORGANIZATION – which controls the rectangle, exports (IMPORT, EXPORT) in goods and services done in a country – abroad, so they have this code, name of that product will be different in other countries. And if this is the case, when you import and export goods, it will take a lot of time to find its tax rate. So if a list of such codes is to be made that enter that code, what is the computer tax rate in that country, tell it automatically so that the CUSTOM department can save its time and there is no CONFUSION about the tax rate.
Indian HSN
India has been a member of the World Customs Organization (WCO) since 1971. Initially, a 6-digit HSN code was used to classify customs and central tax products. Later, the Customs and Central Taxation Department added an additional two digits to make the code more accurate, resulting in an eight-digit classification.
HSN Code In GST
The HSN code aims to make GST systematic and globally acceptable.
The HSN code eliminates the need to upload detailed product descriptions. This automates GST returns, saving you time and making filing easier.
The dealer or service provider must provide a summary of the HSN / SAC sales in the GSTR-1 if the sale falls within the slab above.
HSN CODE Rules:
Now some of its rules were also set:
Rule 1: | If your turnover (last year’s turnover) is below 1.5 crores, then you do not need to enter HSN CODE. |
Rule 2: | If you have a turn over (last year’s turnover) of 1.5 crores to 5.0 crores, then you have to put 2 digits HSN CODE and that will be two digits on the right side in the entire HSN CODE. |
Rule 3: | If you have a turn over (last year’s turnover) of 5.0 crores or more, then you must enter 6 digit (number 4) HSN CODE. Meaning whenever you create an invoice, just enter 4 digits of the right side of the entire HSN CODE in that invoice. |
Rule 4: | Now if you are exporting goods to another country, then you have to put HSN CODE of 4 digits. |
Service Accounting Code (SAC) in GST
Like goods, services are similarly classified for recognition, measurement and taxation. The code for the service is called the service accounting code, or SAC.
for example:
Patent, copyright and other intellectual property legal documents and authentication services -998213
The first two digits are the same for all services. He is
The next two digits (82) represent the main nature of service. In this case it is a legal service.
The last two digits (13) represent the detailed nature of the service, ie, legal documents, such as patents
